There’s no doubt that the number of posts you create on the wide range of topics within your niche is nearly unlimited, what about pages for your blog? How do you know what kind of pages you should create?

To provide a clear look at who you are, what you do and disclose legal language, you will need many different pages for your readers.
First, here’s a bit about the difference between posts and pages:
First, there is a difference between posts and pages: posts are articles you place on your blog and they will have a date associated with them (so will show up in order on your blog). Pages on the other hand are standalone pieces of content.
Here are common pages found on most blogs:
Your homepage is the first page your readers will see when they go directly to your blog URL.
First impressions are EVERYTHING!
Whether this is a static page or your blog archive is completely up to you.
Many blogs provide a single page of free or suggested resources for their readers.
Resource pages can be a page linking to your favorite sites, products, or anything else you can think of. It can also be a great place to have any affiliate program links (for more information about affiliate marketing click here).
This page does differ from what some bloggers call a “content library” where subscribers to your blog will gain access to free content just for them (for more information about opt in offers and content upgrades to increase your email subscribers see more about Email Marketing).
About Me Page
Many bloggers are surprised how many readers will go to their About Me page.
Plus, it’s a great place for potential brands to get to know you if they are looking to sponsor some posts on your blog!
That being said, there are a lot of opinions on exactly how you should write your About Me page.
Ultimately, you want to be YOU. Show your personality and style of your blog through writing:
- What do you provide for your readers?
- Who do you write for (your target audience)?
- What do you want your readers to know about your blog and about you as a person?
Though these are great starting points for your page, here is a great resource and a FREE printable to help you write your About Me page.
Keep in mind that if you decide not to have a Contact page (see below), this would be a great place to let people (and potential partners) know how to get in contact with you.

Some bloggers choose to include a whole page for people to be able to contact them using a plug in (see my recommended plugins).
If you decide not to have a Contact page, think about adding a way for people to get ahold of you on your About Me page.
Please avoid using Contact Form 7 (free). It is not user friendly and is incredibly resource heavy (so can cause site speed issues).

Category Landing Pages
Once you have decided on your content pillars for SEO, you may choose to create landing pages for your categories.
By creating a clear landing page for each type of content you provide, you are making it that much easier for your site visitors to find the information they are looking to read.
For example, say your blog is a parenting blog focusing on pregnancy, newborns and postpartum care. You would then create 3 landing pages (which you could link to from your sidebar and/or on your static homepage).
Think of these landing pages like additional homepages for your site that focus on a specific type of content. It’s like wrapping paper around your content types based on the categories you have decided to include on your blog.
